What are Cuticles?

Cuticles are related to both in human anatomy and in biology to describe the waxy covering of a leaf.  In human anatomy cuticles are a small area of skin above finger and toenails. Cuticles covers the area where nails connect with fingers. It’s delicate and thin can be removed easily. If you’ve a habit of biting cuticles or nails then you must stop as biting nails weakens nails and biting cuticles make them bleed.

Sometimes cuticle cells become dead and they form a unhealthy look on your fingernails which is not recommend. But you shouldn’t cut them or bite, push them with wooden stick. More here.

Scientifically cuticles are called “Eponychium“, main purpose of cuticles are to protect nails from bacterial infection.
